As director and manager of Roscrea Travel since 1985, I have certainly seen some changes in travel over the years. I have worked in the travel industry from the age of eighteen, when computers and the internet were a distant dream, first with UK Tourist Boards and then returning to Ireland to work with Tara Travel in Cork, where I visited most European holiday destinations. With two grown-up boys I have travelled with children all my life and can offer plenty of advice on suitable and child friendly destinations! I have served on the Board of the Irish Travel Agents Association for several years and believe that Travel Agents still offer the best service and value for holidays.

My favourite destination is The Bay of Islands in New Zealand for sailing, fishing, and kayaking and fantastic friendly locals. I enjoy exploring and trekking and have recently been to the Amalfi Coast, Cinque terre and Puglia on walking holidays. Island hopping in the Grenadines and driving down the Florida Keys and game viewing in South Africa would be my most memorable holiday highlights. My dream destination would be South America, looking forward!

I have been working for Roscrea Travel for 27 years and been lucky enough to travel to some marvellous places. My favourites would include St Lucia staying on the beach and in the rain forest, eastern Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, Canada and Rocky mountaineer train trip and Italy.

I have been to most European resorts and cities and know all the favourite hotels and things to do and see that make the difference between an okay holiday and an amazing holiday that people remember for all the right reasons! I love finding the perfect holiday for people especially honeymooners and hearing their stories when they return. I won a holiday to Argentina and Chile recently and am looking forward to that.

Hi my name is Claire Byrne. I am originally from Wexford but have recently married and moved to Roscrea. I have worked in travel since 2005 and visited Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, China, Bali, South Africa, Thailand, Abu Dhabi, Cancun, Kuala Lumpur, Borneo – along with a lot of European cities.

My most memorable trip was six weeks in Canada with Prince Edward Island as my favourite spot. Feeding the Orangutans in Borneo is also up there as an amazing adventure. I’m hoping to travel to Japan next for a trip on the Bullet train!

Having studied travel and tourism, I worked for Budget Travel for six years before joining Roscrea Travel in 2006. I have enjoyed travel to Portugal, Majorca, Turkey, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Salou and Gran Canaria and city breaks to to Paris, Brussels, Budapest, Barcelona Rome and Boston. In 2000, I travelled to Australia taking in Cairns and Sydney stopping in Singapore en route. In 2007 I went on my first cruise from Venice and was hooked! Since then I have cruised six times on different ships in the Med and Caribbean.

On my last two European Cruises I have taken my baby daughter and can highly recommend cruising for families. I found cruising the easiest type of holiday with kids, the ship even had a toy lending program! Staff on board couldn’t do enough to help with buggies etc and when in the dining room they always went the extra mile to make sure the little ones were happy at meal times. I have been working in Roscrea travel for four years, previously in Nenagh Travel and Tullys Travel. I am passionate about travel and have a degree in Business and Tourism from UL. I did my Masters in International Tourism from the University of Limerick when I took part in a field trip to Cuba which was an amazing experience , with very diverse culture and definitely somewhere I would visit again.

I take every opportunity to travel and have been lucky enough to travel to Miami, Madrid, Seville, Salou, Istanbul and Chicago last year. I have just returned from an educational visit to South Africa for 10 days visiting Kruger, the ZuluNatal and Johannesburg.. I love helping customers to find the right holiday for them at whatever their budget..! I have cruised with Royal Caribbean and MSC , and can recommend which ships would suit my clients.

I got married in April 2013 and went on Honeymoon to Mexico and New York and am already planning my holiday for 2014!
