The capital, Funchal, is a thriving seaside town which offers plenty of amenities and services for the holidaymaker. Funchal, with its cobbled streets, offers many cafes, bars, restaurants, a traditional market, museums, a pretty harbour and the impressive Se Cathedral. From the Old Town, a cable car rises to Monte village, which offers amazing panoramic views. From here, don’t miss the traditional descent on the ‘toboggan’.
